A BIT MORE ABOUT JANESSA:
Janessa is originally from Montana and moved to Oregon as a young adult. After an initial education in design at a local community college, she completed her formal training at Pacific Northwest College of Art, majoring in illustration & painting before embarking on a full-time career as a professional artist.
Her work is a witch's brew of detailed illustration, traditional painting techniques and creative grit. Fueled by the outdoors and relentless pursuit of adventure, her work lives at the intersection of art and environment, where brush strokes become trail markers and color palettes echo the shifting seasons of the Pacific Northwest.
As a muralist and illustrator, she creates visually engaging experiences that tell stories rooted in place while frequently showcasing native flora and fauna of the geological location she's highlighting. She celebrates natural rhythms, wild landscapes and the emotional terrain we travel as humans in a rapidly changing world. In a culture of constant motion, a time where it's easy to feel disconnected, her artwork offers a pause, a moment to breathe in the stillness between light and shadow, each brushstroke carrying the memory of moss, mountain, mule deer and moonlight. acting as a visual reminder of the natural worlds presence and power.
Her color palettes often echo the sunrise and sunset. Those liminal hours where the world feels softer, more sacred. A ritual of connection that invites others to remember their own wildness and root themselves back into the rhythms of the earth and sky.
Each hand or digitally drawn piece of art is influenced by the raw beauty of nature, inviting viewers to slow down, reconnect and remember where we come from.
Janessa's creative practice includes studio and commercial work. She's interested in working for like minded people sharing her same passion and dedication creating for educational and impactful purposes, blending purposeful design with meaningful connection.
